Lyndsay at Broken Oak Acres in Glenn California is truly a beauty! She is so full of ambition and creativity as well. It was such a joy to spend time with her and her family one evening a couple of weeks ago. Yesterday evening I was going through the archives of some of the images that I took a couple of years ago. This dahlia was taken in Washington State. Fun to find some buried treasures to share with you! 🌸 Then, today in the Floret Flowers newsletter, I received a "Grow Great Dahlias e-book" which includes detailed information on how they grow dahlias in abundance each season. 🍃Truly, I am loving learning about so many of the great artists of the past. Most of what I am discovering is that there is no "right" way to make art. No need to stay within the lines. No need to make all the colors exact to what one sees with their eyes. No need to make art look "real". * 🍃These books represent not how to paint...but for me they represent how to THINK about art, to think about what colors, shapes, textures, and lines bring me joy. * 🍃Art is something that comes from within...not from "within the lines" so to speak. What resonates with me, may not with you...but it may with somebody! And even if it never does, well it is a therapy for my soul. It is a place to express me...simple little me. These roses were my favorite last year at our new home. I called them the "Grace" rose. Because when we rounded the corner of our yard on the day we signed papers for this house, they were just the most spectacular display of God's favor and grace towards us! Lilacs and sweet peas may be my favorite flowers. Our lilacs are in bloom already, and I LOVE them.🌿 My sweet peas are coming up out of the ground and I can't wait to see them later this spring!
